  1. “Let no foreigner who is bound to the Lord say, ‘The Lord will surely exclude me from his people.'” (Isaiah 56:3). God excludes no one who will worship his holy name. All those “who choose what pleases [God] and hold fast to [God’s] covenant” (56:4) will be brought to his holy mountain and they will have joy in God’s house of prayer. It’s a great comfort to know that God is not exclusive, though many would say we Christians exclude many. When I was teaching, I used to start my classes by letting the students know I was guilty of having teachers pets. A teacher’s pet is someone who pays attention in class, turns their assignments in on time and seeks advice before projects were due, etc. I painted the picture of a good student–these were my “teacher’s pets.” Anyone could fall into that category if they were willing to follow the plan. God wants us all to be part of his family, he does not exclude anyone. All who are thirsty (55:1), eunuchs and foreigners, all are welcome…if they will simply “hold fast to my covenant” (55:6) says the Lord. Seems simple. 🙂
