  1. My dad spoke this proverb to me many times, he said: “kill them with kindness” in reference to Proverbs 25:21-22, “…in doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head…” Ok, it sounds harsh, but think about heaping burning coals on someone’s head by giving them food or water. Pretty extreme! The challenge is to do so with sincerity, not out of vengeance; to do so as a way of life, not as an obligation to a creed. Dad died over a decade ago, but his voice is still fresh in my mind and his consistent kindness to anyone and everyone is a great memory. People probably took advantage of his heart, but he was kind anyway. I’m sure he was greatly rewarded with words we all long to hear, “well done good and faithful servant” (Matt 25:21).

Many of the proverbs support this notion of humble, selfless giving. Reading through these consistently instill in my heart the desire for such attributes to become part of my character. I pray God will give me such a kind and caring heart, one with great wisdom that comes only from him.
