  1. The more I read and study, the more I appreciate this opening statement from Luke,

Since I myself have carefully investigated everything from the beginning, I too decided to write an orderly account for you, most excellent Theophilus, so that you may know the certainty of the things you have been taught. Luke 1:3-4

My own investigation covers a wide range of authors and pastors. Writings of C.S. Lewis, William Lane Craig, Richard Foster, Timothy Keller, Craig Blomberg, etc., help in providing deep understanding and appreciation for the relatively few words we find in the Bible. Yes, I know the Bible looks like a big book, but really, it’s brief. As John concludes, “Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written” (John 21:25).

So our journey begins with Luke’s desire to provide an orderly account for us to read and peek into the life of Jesus Christ.

Lord, I pray that this study will be deep and wide, a complete expository review of the New Testament Gospels in parallel where such lines exist. Help us to learn from each verse and be patient in the reading. Teach us Lord, give us wisdom for this age, this time and this place. Help us to be relevant and a great light to the people of this dark age of skepticism. Amen.
