Let the Word evoke words. May your life encourage lives.
“The Spirit and the bride say, ‘Come!’ And let the one who hears say, ‘Come!’ Let the one who is thirsty come; and let the one who wishes take the free gift of the water of life” (Revelation 22:17). Indeed the time has come, the last readings in the Holy Bible. With it the promise of “a new heaven and a new earth” (21:1). The famous quote that comforts us when we say goodbye to someone on earth: “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away” (21:4).
It’s interesting that the tribes of Israel are given such honor in Revelation. Those who represent these tribes didn’t have such a good history on earth, but God makes good on his promise: “On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel” (12:12).
“I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple” (12:22). Such a great vision for an Apostle to provide for us at the beginning of Christianity. From this early writing we read: “It is done” (21:6). We win! “No longer will there be any curse” (22:3).
Thank you Lord for your promise of a grand future, one beyond pain and suffering, one where we are honored by your presence and fully know you. Thank you for providing this revelation to John and I pray we will understand the words better each time we read them. Amen.
