  1. “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another” (27:17) is a verse quoted many times. I wonder, how does this really work? How do you sharpen iron with iron? As I googled this, I was surprised to see an extensive explanation that iron does not sharpen iron, therefore a person cannot sharpen another person…you can only sharpen iron with a stone, i.e., only God can people. Funny how some can read the same thing and walk away with completely different thoughts. I wonder if the same author read Psalm 96:12 and argued that trees can’t really sing. I thought about deleting this thought, but perhaps it’s good to leave it there to remind us that our body of believers come from many different backgrounds with differing points of view…and that’s ok when we conclude that Christ is King and God is God. We need to give each other grace.
