Let the Word evoke words. May your life encourage lives.
We were made for eternity. “He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end” (Ecc 3:11). Ecclesiastes provides a glimpse into Solomon’s reflecting on his life and perhaps his frustration with having all wisdom, yet unable to extend the days of life on earth.
Today is Easter Sunday and the song rattling around in my head keeps singing, “Death, where is your sting?” Today we recognize the victory in Christ. Yes, we will all depart this earthly body, but those who have accepted Christ have been called into life eternal, the life prepared for us. “Each of them may eat and drink and find satisfaction in all their toil — this is the gift of God” (3:13) is great, but even greater is the gift of Christ and we have a joyful obligation to help as many people as possible come into this glorious light.
