I should have included this passage when I covered Matthew 6:25-34 (see post here), but it’s ok to visit this twice, if not providential! Instead of focusing on the first half, “do not worry,” let’s focus on the second part, “But seek his kingdom…where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

We are told not to worry about our life, what we eat or drink, or about our clothes, what we wear. Worrying about these things will not add a single hour to our lives.
Jesus tells us not to set our hearts on things we cannot change. Such practical advice! As mentioned in the previous post comment, this is good advice even at a worldly level, but there is more to this passage–this sets the stage for what is really important:
When we allow the “stuff” of this world to command our attention, our devotion and our loyalty, we will miss the kingdom that is being offered.
