Let the Word evoke words. May your life encourage lives.
The Lord condemns the false prophets, “because they lead my people astray, saying ‘Peace,’ when there is no peace, and because, when a flimsy wall is built, they cover it with whitewash” (Ezekiel 13:10). “Therefore you will no longer see false visions or practice divination. I will save my people from your hands. And then you will know that I am the Lord” (13:23). There are times when I wish for this type of clarity, when people identified with the Christian church are quoted as saying something politically correct in an attempt to cover up something which is clearly wrong; God please just wipe the slate clean! But even as those words slip out, I must be careful not to convict myself. How many times have I said ‘peace’ when there was no peace. These prophesies are directed at the stubborn people of God, but remind us of our place today. Lord do not whitewash your words, speak clearly to us and give us ears to hear with hearts willing to change!
