One of the favorite stories in the Bible, The Fiery Furnace. This story doesn’t need additional commentary except to remind us that Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego were not saved FROM the fiery furnace, they were save IN the fiery furnace. Their denial of the king’s decree to worship his image was blunt, “we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have setup” (Daniel 3:18). Their sentence immediately executed and they were bound not knowing what the outcome would be except, “the God we serve is able to deliver us” (3:17). May I remember that God will indeed allow us to go through trials. I pray for the faith of these men and whatever the outcome in any situation, may I remain resolute in my faith that God’s will be done over my own.
