Let the Word evoke words. May your life encourage lives.
We all want to know when Christ will return, “about times and dates we do not need to write to you, for you know very well that the day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night” (1 Thessalonians 5:1-2). Be prepared and do not worry, Paul tells his new church in Thessalonica. “let us be sober, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet” (5:8). These words and these concerns are part of our modern society as well. Some are deceived to believe that they can pin-point the time and date of Christ’s return and some follow this path. This only serves to undermine the Christian church as naysayers mock those who sell all because Christ is coming at a certain time and date. Lord help me to be ready without being anxious and help me to “encourage one-another and build each other up” (5:11).
Lord help me to “rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus” (5:16-17). Teach me to apply the words of Paul to my needs today and help me to teach others of their importance!
Thanks for the words John. I hope the movie causes people to seek Christ and I pray a loving Christ-follower (even you or me) would be there when they ask the difficult questions!
