  1. “…the first grain you harvest” (Lev 23:10). “You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God” (Lev 23:14).

    God provided many ordinances and requirements for the Israelites as they quickly transitioned from a captive nation to the people who were set free from oppression. They needed lots of structure to navigate this movement. Most of these don’t make sense in our modern culture, but the principal of bringing our best, our firstfruits to the Lord remains. God has provided for us in so many ways, so faithfully. I pray that I will remember to bring God my firstfruits every day, the best I have to offer, the very best I can.
