  1. “In that day the Lord will punish the powers in the heavens above and the kings on the earth below” (24:21). “In that day…” (25:9) is repeated often in this section, look for this 7 times in chapters 24-27 alone. We have something to look forward to…in that day. “Israel, will be gathered up one by one…those who were perishing…will come and worship the Lord on the holy mountain in Jerusalem” (27:12-14).

“In days to come Jacob will take root, Israel will bud and blossom and fill all the world with fruit.” (27:6) Even though we know the Lord is the one true God, though “Lord, your hand is lifted high, but they do not see it” (26:11), we must be faithful and rest assured that God will come “in that day.” For now, “we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts” (26:8). Yes Lord, we wait for you. I pray that while waiting I will be busy doing God’s work knowing that the work is not in vain. Spread the seeds of the Gospel and know God will use the work to advance his kingdom. It’s great to know that “in that day” God will make all things right, but help us to work hard “in this day” for God’s honor and glory.
