  1. In the book of Ezekiel, the phrase, “know that I am the Lord” appears more than 60 times. I wonder what Ezekiel’s message is all about? God is the sovereign Lord of all.

Ezekiel writes of his vision of God and records his call in chapter 2 through the first part of chapter 3. “Do not be afraid” is repeated three times (Ezekiel 2:6), “You must speak my words to them, whether they listen or fail to listen, for they are rebellious” (2:7). Ezekiel is given a difficult task, his life on earth is about to change and God is there with him through it all. Reading these chapters after reading through the stories of the kings helps to understand the gravity of the situation. So many human kings had misled God’s chosen people; one wrong turn after another. The northern kingdom exiled long before the southern, but both removed from the promised land. Yet God will remain the Lord of all and will still send Jesus to draw his people back. This provides the hope we trust and believe in today.
